National Women’s Council
GOPIO Women’s Council in the Dutch Chapter follows the mission and aims to set in the GOPIO International constitution but it also stresses on the following approaches:
An action oriented approach: It is not only a think tank to inspire people with new insights or knowledge but it also aims to take a next step by implementing thoughts that are generated in expert meetings, seminars or conferences.
An output orientation: It aims to create output of sessions, seminars, conferences in the form of research or policy papers or books.
A societal mindful orientation: The Women’s council focuses on the Global Society by being aware of and by acting with alertness to issues that are important in Society at large and by addressing some of them in its events. This means that the Women’s Council will not solely address gender related issues. Other issues that seem to be important in society will be addressed too in whatever form (expert meeting, symposium, conference or papers).
An international orientation: The council deals with events that may be of interest for the Dutch society, the Indian Society in the Netherlands but it sees itself as part of the Global organization and hence it has an international orientation resulting in international events too.
An integrative orientation: It aims to be part of the Dutch Society. A large part has integrated or is on its way towards successful integration in the Dutch Society. Therefore it has relationships at a national level with women organisations in the Netherlands too.
An Indian diversity focus: It incorporates the diversity
(Young, old, different countries, expertise, fields etc.) to:
- stimulate / inspire, empower, transform,
- enhance visibility,
- bridge the gap between the Indian diaspora communities.
It strives to do this by creating support from key persons of the different diaspora communities / organisations in the different regions of the country.
Inclusive towards men: It cooperates with men. Men will actively be approached for visiting events or participation in events organized by the Women’s Council.
A pragmatic orientation: The Women’s Council aims to be pragmatic when it comes to issues such as language. It uses both English and Dutch, depending on the target audience. All formal writings though will be in English.
