“Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. International Day of Non-violence 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is a new initiative set up by the Indian Embassy in 2017 to join the celebrations by organising events. The Peace theme organised by the Indian Embassy will be celebrated on Oct 1 & 2 October in The Hague : click here to register.
In the last Five years Mr. Frank Kanhai and his crew are organising his Annual Peace Walk in The Hague: Mr. Kanhai has gathered a lot of fans in the Netherlands, featured on national media, without asking for status and was recognised by the Health Care industry and associations for his charitable & sportive work. On 2 October they will be organising the short “Wandelen met Frank Kanhai” Gandhi Peace Walk: as many events are happening this year around these days the organisers have shifted his annual Peace Walk to the evening hours. Join them in the evening by using this link.
The Month of October is also an opportunity to call for Swaraj, Satyagraha and Ahimsa on a international basis. GOPIO is organising the Gandhi Peace Walk Europe to Brussels, starting from the Peace Palace in the Hague on Saturday 7 October: the participants will walk towards the European Parlement and present their Gandhi Peace Manifesto to the representatives on Sunday 8th 2017.
